Correspondence; journals; loose writings; sketchbooks and clippings documenting his career. The journals, which have letters and other items laid in, describe his work for the WPA, the influence of other painters, exhibitions, and his concern for Black Americans and the unemployed, who frequently appeared in his paintings.
